My lower back went out Thursday afternoon. It’s really the worst acute pain I’ve experienced for several years (the out and out worst being a car accident that I went through roughly five to six years ago). But two back adjustments later, I’m almost to the point where I can sit again (I’m mostly laying down with my head awkwardly propped up while writing this), and with any luck, later today, I’ll be back to cooking, cleaning, paperwork, and the other thousands of things I seem to bite off.

I finished up “Eating Animals” by Jonathan Safran Foer this morning. I only had about 10-15 pages to go (I would have eagerly finished it up Thursday, but there are points during some afflictions when not even reading is comfortable), and I’m really massively impressed with it. I’m sure some people will either hate it or love it, but it really moved and engaged me, and it’s been a long time since anything has done that.

I went out to go feed the kittens about forty-five minutes ago (it now being roughly 6:45 a.m.) and they’re getting markedly more comfortable around me. Even the mother cat seems to be warming up, so, with any luck we should be able to catch them and get them into the vet sometime in the next week *keeps fingers crossed*. The pain killers that I took around 5:00 a.m. started to kick in, so I sat outside for a while, and I hung out with them for a bit. They’re so cute and sweet that I could watch them all day. I’m particularly smitten with the little orange tabby kitten, he’s (or she’s, I haven’t been able to get close enough to look) been temporarily named “Pickle” after a precocious little orange tabby kitten that was in a book that I had (and loved) when I was little.

Other than that life has been life. I’m still massively behind from the mumps, taking care of Climber before she passed away, and the general overall problems that I’ve had with my health (although even that’s been getting much better since cutting out meat last year). But I’ve been really sitting down and writing for the first time since high school, (I don’t even really count the poetry book, the actual writing of which took me about five days) and trying to really put energy into it. It could be years before I have a decent, polished, ready for publication novel, but if I don’t put the effort in, I’ll never get there.

Life is going great here, but unfortunately with the holidays rolling up I’m finding myself absurdly busy. But hey, I love being busy, so I have no complaints. (There’s nothing better than having more work than what you know what to do with, and having old friends popping into town, gatherings to host, and holiday parties to go to). ^_^

What does being busy have to do with the site? Simply put, I’m not going to be updating as much… or at least there aren’t as many updates planned. I have all sorts of articles, “Deep Thoughts,” recipes, and other random musings rolling around in my head, but with running several other sites (and having updates planned for those), updates on Aimeeisms.com is probably going to, at best, be sporadic until January.
